Synthetic Deck Covers
In order to refer to them, it is necessary to talk in general about Deck Covers and when we talk about Deck Covers we are talking about a structure that closes the upper part of a construction or building.
What is the function of Deck covers?
The main function of Deck roofs is to offer protection to the building, this is given by both thermal and acoustic insulation, thanks to the roof the building is protected against climatic agents and any other factor from the outside.
Deck covers are especially recommended for cases where a minimum slope is required (1-3%),
What is the composition of our Deck decks?
Each part of our Deck roofs has its function, they are made from a metal sheet, a thermo-acoustic insulation and finally a waterproofing finish is added.
In Cover Industrial we use a corrugated sheet base on which we add rock wool insulation or PIR foam, thanks to this layer we achieve both thermal and acoustic insulation. On top of this insulation we place an asphalt or synthetic TPO or PVDF sheet.
Functions of each part of the Deck Decks
The corrugated sheet metal can be protected with an anti-corrosion process depending on the surrounding environment. It is a metal sheet profiled longitudinally with a certain number of corrugations to ensure greater rigidity and better mechanical strength.
Rock wool insulation is a natural product, made from volcanic rock, whose main function is to provide thermal insulation and passive fire protection in buildings.
PIR foam as its name suggests is a foam composed of a type of rigid polyurethane called PIR, an acronym that comes from the word Polyisocyanurate. Polyisocyanurate is a thermosetting plastic that is used as rigid thermal insulation.
Finally, install a membrane on top of the insulation to ensure proper waterproofing with a layer of asphalt or synthetic TPO or PVC sheeting.
In this case, we are talking about Synthetic Deck roofing, one of the most common materials used for this type of waterproofing membranes.
What are PVC Synthetic Deck Covers?
It is clear that synthetic Deck roofs are intended for the waterproofing of roofs for all types of buildings, specifically PVC roofs are made from plasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P), manufactured by calendering in two layers (this is used for the manufacture of sheets from raw plastic shapes) and reinforced with different types of reinforcement.
What are the characteristics of synthetic PVC Deck Covers?
There is no doubt that synthetic Deck Covers provide a high resistance to de-watering and impact.
They have high puncture resistance to prevent cracking.
Synthetic Deck Covers are tensile resistant, thus preventing breakage.
They are dimensionally stable and highly flexible.
Synthetic PVC films are exceptionally resistant to micro-organisms, rot and natural ageing, as well as to root penetration.
One thing that makes synthetic PVC Deck Decks variable is that they have different reinforcements.
Benefits of using PVC Synthetic Deck Covers
They are environmentally friendly, as the material used is recyclable.
They have a very good water vapour permeability.
Resistance to ultra violet (U.V.) rays and extreme weather conditions is high.
The synthetic Deck covers adapt easily to the different shapes of the support.
As for installation, it is easy and quick as it involves manual, automatic or induction brazing.
The PVC Synthetic Deck Decking work is easy to handle and flame-free.
Synthetic Deck roofs are usually installed in industrial pavilions, sports complexes, logistic centres or places of large dimensions. There are different types of roofs, such as the non-trafficable flat roof with gravel as heavy protection, the landscaped flat roof, the trafficable roof with fixed flooring as heavy protection or the trafficable flat roof with floating flooring.
On the other hand, what are TPO synthetic Deck Covers?
TPO Synthetic Deck Covers are formed with PLASTPOLY, a synthetic waterproofing sheet produced by co-extrusion of flexible thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO / FPO), UV resistant and reinforced with polyester or fibreglass mesh reinforcement.
What are the characteristics of TPO synthetic Deck Covers?
Synthetic Deck Covers have a high reflectivity (COOL ROOF with a high SRI index (102%)) which indicates that it fights very well against high temperatures by lowering the temperature of the roof surface.
It has thermo-welded joints that form a homogeneous joint, so that the top and bottom sheets are fused together.
Synthetic TPO Deck Covers also have high mechanical strength and flexibility.
Like PVC synthetic decking, TPO synthetic decking has a high dimensional stability as it does not shrink or expand.
Their chemical resistance is quite high and they are compatible with bitumen (We use bitumen in roofing because of its waterproofing and adhesive properties).
Good resistance to root penetration and very resistant to micro-organisms.
As it does not contain plasticisers, it has a longer durability than other membranes.
Benefits of using TPO synthetic deck covers
Synthetic TPO Deck Covers have a high thermal reflectivity which means that the high Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) (102%) would favour energy certifications (BREEAM, LEED and Green Certification).
Like PVC synthetic decking, TPO synthetic decking is environmentally friendly, as the material used is recyclable.
Synthetic TPO films are suitable for direct application on bituminous structures and XPS (polystyrene) insulation.
They have high durability, high strength and good stability.
Like the PVC ones, the installation is easy and quick as it is done by manual or automatic welding or induction welding.
The TPO Synthetic Deck Decking work is also easy to handle and flame-free.
They have accessories for exposed roof applications with high fire resistance requirements.
